How to Clean Your Yellowed Pillows for Good

In case you’re wondering how often you should clean and wash your pillows, the answer is every 3 to 6 months. Yes, no kidding. Even if your pillows have pillowcases and pillow protectors on them, dirt still accumulates when we perspire, cry, drool, or whatever other human thing we normally do. Over time, pillows get frayed and turn this dirty-looking yellow color. We don’t want to throw away a perfectly good pillow, but seeing it all yellowed like that can make us think twice about using it again.

Luckily for us, we can restore yellowed pillows to their fresh and pristine state by following this easy cleaning hack shared to us by YouTuber Jill of One Good Thing.

What you’ll need:

Hot water

A cup of laundry detergent

A cup of powdered dishwasher detergent

A cup of bleach

A half cup of Borax

Just make sure that the pillow you’re about to wash is machine-safe. Fill the machine with hot water and add in your whitening solution. Turn the machine on to dissolve the solution fully. After that, you can add in the pillow. Watch the full video instruction here.
